The First Family is a big fan of theatre. And who wouldn’t be? With a typical season, Broadway shows gross over $1.1 billion in ticket sales with over 12 million tickets sold. It’s a must-do in NYC.
And the Obama's are known for taking time and enjoying the arts and indulging in a Broadway show. Here are some examples:
Michelle Obama went to see The King and I.
The First Lady took her mother to see this Broadway classic, and even met with the cast after the show, to celebrate leading man Ken Watanabe's final performance. Let’s just say she declared it “Something Wonderful!"
Barack Obama took the girls to Hamilton.
This weekend, Obama took his two daughters to see the new Broadway show: Hamilton. You must be a Broadway buff to see new and innovative shows like this (the show boasts a weird hip-hop score), props Obama.
Michelle hosted Aladdin at the White House.
The cast of Aladdin sang at the Kid’s State Dinner as the main entertainment. Michelle Obama really enjoyed herself. So much so that, she even sang along on stage with the cast.
Michelle took the girls to see Kinky Boots.
This glitz and glam show was a perfect show for the girls! Though they didn’t stay after, Michelle left this nice note for the cast.
There’s no doubt about it: the Obama’s are converting in Broadway lovers.
