Off-the-shoulder tops are having a major fashion moment this summer, from the runways to the streets. I'm taking a break from street style commentary to look at how this trend graced the red carpet more traditionally, in the form of off-the-shoulder dresses.
Above: Style crush Diane Kruger sparkling in Roberto Cavalli at the 2005 Cannes film festival.
Rachel McAdams wearing Self Portrait at the New York premiere of "Southpaw" this past Monday, looking elegant and aware of the trends with a stomach cut-out.
Rihanna stunning in Zac Posen at the 2014 Diamond Ball. This is one of her more understated looks, but the styling and necklace totally make it with her bare shoulders.
Taylor Swift in Kaufman Franco at the 2010 Grammys (remember when she looked like that?)
Zendaya totally rocking a smooth-as-butter Vivienne Westwood gown at the 2015 Oscars, looking elegant and grown up.
Lupita Nyong'O looking clean and modern in Ralph Lauren at the 2014 Golden Globes, with off-the-shoulder sleeves that doubled as a cape in a bold move that paid off.
Anna Kendrick looking like an ethereal dream at the 2010 Oscars in Elie Saab.
Reese Witherspoon looking polished and on-trend as usual wearing Tom Ford at the 2015 Oscars.
Is this a style best kept on the red carpet, or does it work for streetwear? I'm partial to the latter trend, but Karlie Kloss can also wear anything and make me want to work it, too.
Honestly the karlie kloss look is my favorite. I think it works super well dressed up or down!!
i loveeeeee off the shoulder !! i think it looks so classy and really put together !
I do too, @LizArnone! And more interesting than strapless!
