Just when you thought making a two-hour movie about minions was a bit of a money grab, wait until you see what Hollywood has next up its sleeves. Sony Pictures Animation just closed a seven-figure deal to produce a movie about... Emojis?!
That's right. There's going to be a fully animated feature film about those smiley faces your grandmother abused when she finally learned how to use her iPhone's texting feature.
According to an article that ran in Time earlier today, the screenplay is going to be penned by Eric Siegel (MTV's 'The Hard Times f RJ Berger') and Anthony Leondis (Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch'), the latter of which will be directing as well.
But what I want to know is: HOW?!
Well, people HAVE been using Emojis in filmmaking on some level. I mean, check out this fan-made Emoji music video for Beyonce & Jay-Z's "Drunk In Love".
