I've become a trail running shoe convert. In the past I separated my hiking self from my running self. I wore hiking boots while on the trails and running sneakers on the road, however, last year the promise of a lighter shoe, offering sufficient traction and support sounded too good to pass up, so I bought my first pair of trail running shoes: $110 Brooks Cascadia 7s. I took my new trail shoes for a spin on Green Mountain in Boulder, CO and haven't looked back since. I now wear trail running shoes on about 85% of my hikes, reserving the hiking boots for cold, winter days. I have yet to transfer completely to the minimalist shoes...but maybe that's next...? Any other opinions out there?
