breakup (v.) - a relationship breakup, often referred to simply as a breakup, is the termination of an intimate relationship by any means other than death.

We've all been there. At least most of us have experienced the dreaded breakup. You've seen it happen to your favorite celebrities and your favorite couples on television, but the fact of the matter is, breakups happen to just about anyone. It's life -- and it sucks. Some people handle breakups better than most, but at the end of the day one thing that helps everyone cope with a breakup is the perfect song.
Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. We've all had that moment when we hear a song come on the radio and immediately one person comes to mind. The same thing happens to us when we are going through something difficult like a breakup. Whether you were together for two months or two years, it's okay to be emotional and get in full singer mode when you hear a song that speaks on your exact situation -- and if you've been there than you should be familiar with at least one of these songs.

Usher - Let It Burn

The title says it all. If you didn't listen to this song during a rough time in your relationship or a break up than you were coping the wrong way. In this song, Usher said everything that we wanted to say, but couldn't say.

Boyz II Men - End Of The Road

Boyz II Men made us feel emotions we didn't even know were there with this song. Although we were singing right along with them, we knew at the end of the day we didn't want it to be the end of the road. Unfortunately, sometimes we all run into that dead in and the only choice we have is to turn around and start again.

Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor

"It could all be so simple, but you rather make it hard" -- that one specific lyric hits you hard when you're going through a serious breakup. It's like Lauryn Hill knew exactly how we were feeling in this song. Her words were raw, yet so relatable. You can't help but sing along and reminisce.

Mariah Carey - Always Be My Baby

Probably one of the first songs we all associated with a breakup or getting hurt by our crush in grade school growing up. Although you have your issues and probably resent whoever it is that hurt you -- at the end of the day you will always have a special place for them in your heart. Many would probably think you're crazy for still caring about someone who hurt you, but they wouldn't understand until it happens to them.

Jay-Z - Song Cry

Let Jay-Z be the first to tell you that rappers have feelings too -- even if you can't see it coming down his eyes. This song has the ability to put you in deep thought and you might just shed a tear.

What's your go to break up song or the one song you listen to when you're feeling down and out?

@jordanhamilton I listen to "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones constantly when I'm feeling down about a guy haha. I'm not sure why. lol
@shannon15 Saaame. I actually really enjoy the Cranberries, but that had always been my least favorite song by them too! That was my argument hahaha
@jordanhamilton it always makes me cheerful. I hope you enjoy it! @danidee that's one of those songs my mom really loves on the basis of it being feminine and Irish. It's my least favorite song by them though.
Omg, the song Linger by the Cranberries is one of those break-up songs that cut me deep. I used to hate that song until I dated a guy who convinced me it was one of those 'hugely underrated' songs, so I finally caved and gave it a chance. Then we broke up and I hate that song even more lol.
Uhm. Totally sad Broadway song to add to the breakup playlist: “On My Own” It’s from Les Miserables is perfect and sad and I probably cried to it at least 12 times when I went through a breakup. But it felt really good to cry too!
