Victoria is a Heist Movie Shot in One Take
Sebastian Schipper's Victoria follows one night, all shot in one take, that also involves a bank heist. The idea of the film is enough to make me want to go see it but if that's not enough for you, Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan) said the film rocked his world. And that alone was enough to make thousands of people seek out this film. Victoria is a two hour and eighteen minute single take that chronicles one woman's night (that also happens to involve a bank heist).

Right from the start the trailer makes it clear that the film takes place over the course of one night and a single shot. Even though the trailer is cut up, you can still get a sense of how the film works within the single take. The camera moves around as each character speaks instead of using a shot-reverse-shot. By doing this, Schipper allows the audience to enter the world of the film and feel like they're a part of the narrative instead of just viewing it.
I'm excited to see how the full feature will utilize the single take over the course of two hours. Fortunately, Adopt Films will be releasing the film in the United States for a larger audience (and, essentially, give me an opportunity to watch this in a theater).
Victoria will be in theaters this Fall (2015). Some sites say that it will be released on October 9th, 2015.
