Unconventional Wedding Dresses
For everyone who has grown up daydreaming about what they would wear to their wedding, how many choose to go the unconventional route? An unconventional wedding dress or outfit can be just as beautiful and make even more of a statement than a typical gown. Whether you're staying away from white, opting for pants, or anything other than a gown, let these examples unconventional wedding attire provide inspiration.
Style star Olivia Palermo married Johannes Huebl in a quiet ceremony, wearing a cashmere sweater, shorts, and a full tulle skirt with a high slit over them, all by Carolina Herrera. She finished off the unique ensemble with a simple high ponitail, her go-to hairstyle, completing an elegantly understated bridal look.
Piper Perabo wore a sparkling Michael Kors dress not intended to be bridal as she wed Stephen Kay in a colorful ceremony in New York City. The topper to her unconventional look? Yellow tulle twisted in her bun for an equally unique take on a veil.
Another fashion-forward favorite, Solange Knowles, wore a Stéphane Rolland jumpsuit to her New Orleans wedding to Alan Ferguson as the couple arrived on bikes at the ceremony site. For the ceremony itself, Solange changed into a gown by Humberto Leon for Kenzo, but kept unconventional in a stark cape silhouette.
Ashlee Simpson wed Evan Ross in a bohemian wedding, wearing a gown that would almost be conventional for bridal were it not for the revealed midriff! Her wedding dress consisted of a cropped lace top that was sheer enough to reveal a bralette beneath, and a full lace skirt to match. Perhaps being her second wedding, the singer was ready for a less traditional look.
Keira Knightly wed James Righton at at intimate and low-key ceremony in the south of France, wearing a short tulle dress by Karl Lagerfeld and a Chanel jacket, throwing out the idea of a gown altogether. She looked lovely and elegant, and almost down-to-earth despite the designer labels in bare legs and flats.
Though Kaley Cuoco's wedding dress was made by bridal gown favorite Vera Wang, the bubblegum pink hue made it unconventional and fun. Her wedding with Ryan Sweeting took place on New Year's Eve, making it more of a party than a ceremony with an upside-down wedding cake and a non-white dress to match.
Gwen Stefani wore a Dior custom-made dress for her wedding to Gavin Rossdale, and the pink dip-dyed style was as equally punk and girly as the singer herself.

@cindystran I do too because the dresses are equally beautiful and wearing them in the first place makes a statement. My faves are Olivia's and Piper's

I have always preferred brides in gowns that are unique, classy and a bit daring. My goal nowadays is to get MOTHERS to show up wearing gorgeous, stunning, fashionable gowns, jewels...and Stuart Weitzman stilettos! MUST MUST MUST @gavriella

That's so cool, @marshalledgar! Mother of the bride is such a tough position to dress for and I feel like so often it goes too frumpy or matronly rather than sophisticated and fashionable. Love the stuart weitzman stilettos!!!

Yeah, moms need to ditch the mom gear at weddings and look AMAZING, which they can. I think moms feel like they aren't worthy or something...not sure.
