In a court case in Arizona, Judge Peter Eckerstrom ruled that cops will need more than just smell of weed to warrant a search.
Medical marijuana has been legal in the state since 2014 so the judge stated, "Therefore its scent alone does not disclose whether a crime has occurred.”
This new idea set in Arizona might soon come to other states (especially with the legalization of recreational and medical marijuana).
What does this mean in for pot heads?
As smoking marijuana is becoming a more accepted activity the associations are also changing. This new law destigmatizes the smell of weed with “bad” or “illegal” activity.
So put away that judgment face... because that weed smell might be coming from someone that is using it safely and legally.
