Mizushima Hiro'll be starring in Live-Action Black Butler Film
Popular manga series “Kuroshitsuji “ (Black Butler) written and illustrated by Yana Toboso is being adapted into a live-action film. The main protagonist, Sebastian Michaelis will be played by Mizushima Hiro (Meichan no shitsuji, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, BECK..)!
Black Butler is a shonen manga series which has been serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly GFantasy since September 2006. The series made its television debut on 2008 and a musical adaptation of the manga had run at the Theater in 2009. The series won Japan Expo Award in shonen category in 2010 and the Best International Manga award in Germany's Animagic in 2011. Its 15 volumes so far have 14 million copies in print, including those published in 42 countries and territories. The manga’s well received in both Japan and overseas.
Mizushima will play Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler with impeccable knowledge, manners, grace, cooking skills, martial arts, looks, and more. According to Natalie.mu, the author of the manga series – Yana Toboso has received a lot of offers to adapt the manga into live-action but after the consent was given only after she knew that Sebastian will be played by Mizushima Hiro. This will be the first time Mizushima Hiro starring in a film since BECK three years ago.
The live-action will be co-directed by Kentaro Otani (NANA) and Keiichi Satou (TIGER&BUNNY). The film will begin shooting in April and the original story of the film is set 130 years after the episodes of the manga manga.
