While shaving last night I was wondering, "How do you properly clean a razor?" I normally run them in hot water and soap to disinfect it after each use. But, I think there's a better way to do that I just don't know how yet. The internet is the best place for this kind of stuff. And not surprisingly, I also found items we don't normally clean (but really should) that needs sanitizing. It's a bit gross but it's gotta be done.

1. The toothbrush

It collects a lot of junk like plaque, blood, saliva and who knows what. This little teeth cleaner should be cleaned thoroughly after each use to remove crusty toothpaste build-ups. If you really want to disinfect it, pour a cup of vinegar and let the toothbrush (bristle side) dipped into the liquid and let it sit for about 30 minutes. I don't want to sound like a dental hygienist but we should all replace the toothbrush every three months.

2. The Toothbrush Holder

Yes, the second gross thing after the toothbrush. Clean it out with hot water and dish soap. Then scrub out the gunk from the bottom.

3. The Loofah

Didn't expect this one right? Loofah does a good job cleaning and exfoliating our skin, but how often do we clean it? All the dead skin cell it collect can be rinsed out with the soap but there may be residue. To effectively clean it, pour a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar in a bowl. Let the loofah soak in the bowl for an hour and rinse it out. Always, hang dry!

4. The Razor

A moist blade kept in the shower harboring old hair and dead skin can lead bacteria which causes ingrown hair and irritation when shaving. And not to mention, a duller shave. To clean this, add some rubbing alcohol on cotton pads and wipe your razor. Then quickly towel dry when done. Make sure to store it in a drier plate because a wet razor will become rusty!

5. Toilet Cleaner

I know...Yuck! But you gotta. CLEAN. IT. OUT. After you clean you toilet spray some rubbing alcohol on the brush and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then rinse it in the hottest water.
