Secrets To Staying Cool Under Pressure
Life is hard, that's no secret, but there are a few things you can do to keep calm under pressure.
When you start a new job, or a new year at school the pressure can mount and you can get overwhelmed.
Here are a few secrets you can employ to stay cool in a big meeting or while working on a new project when the stakes are high.

Make sure you prioritize the most important work first.

It's easy to get scattered and take on too much. Make a list and prioritize your main goals for the day or week and then stick to that. Do not stray from accomplishing the most important tasks first. If you're totally over-scheduled, make sure you hit the main things first and then tackle smaller issues. This way, your most important work is done, and you can move on to the other stuff seamlessly.

If you're up against a big meeting or event, go through it in your head before hand.

There's nothing more important than practice. You can pretty much nail anything if you know it like the back of your hand. Go over your speeches, organize your papers and make sure you have everything before you attend. Being prepared is the only way to get through stressful situations successfully. So don't sell yourself short, just put in the work and you will reap the benefits.

Get to work early

If you're late, you're going to just get more and more stressed. Give yourself enough time in the morning to get settled. I like to have 15 to 20 minutes to fill up my water, regulate my desk and greet my friends at work. This gives me a little break after traveling to work, and allows me to get set and ready for the day. Don't give yourself more reasons to stress out, just get to work early.

Give yourself three 10 minute breaks throughout the day.

Whether it's leaving the office to take a walk, running to get coffee or simply just sitting at your desk and focusing on something other than work (like logging into Vingle to check things out), it's necessary to take breaks. Nobody can work for eight or nine straight hours. It'll drive you crazy. Take breaks, and distress, it will help, and you'll be more productive for it.

Understand that pressure is a necessary part of life, and you have to embrace it.

Although we don't always rise to the occasion and we sometimes let opportunity slip, we can always make a better effort each day. We must learn to live with our pressures and each time we feel overwhelmed, just remember these few things, take our time and live our lives to the fullest possible. It may sound cliche, but we make our own pressure. So if we hold ourselves to a high standard, and at the same time realize that we're doing a pretty good job, we can do a lot better.

I guess this posting is more about sponge BoB, and I am not familiar with him, but I do understand pressure. I agree with a dry run for a presentation or a talk where you can think about what you will say aloud, or imagine any questions or comments that may arise from my audience. I also agree with the idea of familiarizing yourself with the general subject matter and even trying to understand the connotations and not just the annotations of your speech. Something about the relation to planning and preparation being in directly tied to your results. The thing that always helps me is to forgive myself for mistakes of the past and trying not to repeat them or at least compensate for my weaknesses by leveraging my strengths, and to understand that each one is like a new life in a strategy game untarnished by what felt like a prior death.
