I have always been a fan of martial arts movies; so, it was inevitable that I would cross paths with Ninja Assassin. The trailer for this movie was easy bait for someone me. Little did I know that this movie was the first gateway on my journey to all things K.
Everything about this movie is beautiful. The cinematography, plot, action, and fight sequences mesh well together to deliver a true nail biter from start to finish. But the beauty that left me dumb struck was the lead actor, Rain.
I was totally thrown for a loop by everything about him. I had been watching martial arts films for years with actors like Bruce Lee, Sonny Chiba, Chow Yun Fat, Jet Li, Donny Yen, Zhang Ziyi, and Mechelle Yeoh amongst many others. Although none of these actors are ugly, none had been as dynamically breathtaking as Rain.
I tried to forget about Rain after my first of many Ninja Assassin viewings, but it was already too late...he had already left a lasting impression on me. So I googled him to there and back again.
I couldn't find one disappointing photo. Then I discovered that he was also a amazing singer and dancer. So, I watched all the music videos I could find via YouTube - no matter the lack of subtitles nor awful fuzz. Through IMDB, I found out he was in the Speed Racer live action film, so I bought Speed Racer and watched it until I had it practically memorized. I was very disappointed when I couldn't find access to his other filmography; so eventually the hype settled. But, Rain never really left my mind. I would check on him from time to time via the internet. So my journeyed stalled here. Then by pure chance, it was rebooted some time later by a member of Big Bang, but that's for another card...
this was one great movie and rain did a marvelous job he is soooo perfect nd I just love him
I love this movie haha
wow almost my exact story! I Love marital arts movies and owned a very well loved and worn copy of Ninja Assassin a full 2 years before I stumbled onto Kim Hyun Joong in Boys Over Flowers. I had no idea Rain was even Korean! Lol I thought he was Japanese! pabo me! ha ha ha! so technically Rain introduced me to the Korean Wave but it was KHJ that got me into Kpop and ruined me for anything but Korean Entertainment. Sigh. I don't even know what's popular on American TV. It's been five years now. People talk about 24 and Orange is New Black Sons of Anarchy and such. I'm like what? I have no idea what those are even about lol!
@CandaceJordan lol omg. the things you learn. I now see this movie in a different light <3
