You may or may not be aware that there is a Minecraft movie currently in the works. Well if you weren't before, you are now! More than that, Rob McElhenney (creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) has been officially announced as the director for the picture.
Being that The Lego Movie was so massively successful, Warner Bros has decided to try and follow up on that success with another film about crafting. Makes sense, in theory. Take a popular aspect of the pop culture zeitgeist and build a film around it.
I can't imagine what the plot of the movie will be, but it's... interesting to imagine. The Lgego Movie blew my every expectation away, and I'm a huge fan of what they did there.
Warner Bros had brought on a producer from that film, Roy Lee, to work on this new project. Hopefully they can recapture some of what made the Lego Movie so gosh-darned good.
This is a photo posted to Twitter after the announcement by Lydia Winters, Brand Director for Mojang - the company that created Minecraft. Mojang is now owned by Microsoft, but they were still the first group to release the news about the film.
Excited about the film? Curious? Don't blame you. As more details come out, it'll be easier to determine whether this is something to really get pumped about.
