It follows a small-town cook and his dreams to be a big deal of a cook. As his dishes get better, so too does he grow as a person. Rumor has it that this anime was the inspiration for Iron Chef.
Chuuka Ichiban (Cooking Master Boy)
Set in China during the Qing dynasty, this comedic anime follows Mao, a young man who is striving to become a master cook through competitive It's really interesting in terms of providing some history about China's cuisine and the competitive aspects are hilarious.
Bonjour Koiaji Pâtisserie
With everyone in this anime being so absurdly beautiful, it sort of reminds you of Ouran High School Host Club. A short anime, it is nevertheless impressive, with its penchant for funniness and beautifully animated delectible treats.
Shokugeki no Sōma
A young boy wants to become an amazing chef, good enough to work in his father's restaurant and supass his father's culinary aptitude. When his father suddenly moves to Europe to open a new shop, he presents a challenge to his son - graduate from this most prestigious of culinary schools, where only the best students graduate. This one is definitely more shonen-y
