Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale Call It Quits After 13 Years of Marriage
"We go through so much together — it's a miracle that we could stay together this long."
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have called it quits after 13 years of marriage on Monday, Aug. 3. The former couple revealed that saddening news to US Weekly in a joint statement.
"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," they told Us Weekly. "To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."
There is no bad blood between the two.
Los Angeles Superior Court confirmed to US Weekly that Stefani's divorce documents have been filed citing irreconcilable differences. They are seeking joint custody of their three sons, Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo, 17 months.
"[Gavin's] on a short tour right now, and he wrote me the sweetest note this morning. It's good to have those days when we both do our own things. I think that's what keeps relationships going, when both people can be themselves and have their own individuality. That's especially important for women. It's hard to find time for yourself," Stefani told Cosmopolitan in March's 2015 issue, "I do think he's quite handsome," she said. "It's not the most important thing about him, but it is nice — and he makes really cute babies!"
But they were so happy *cue sadness*.
Fans are not happy...Like, at all.
"Their priority is making sure they maintain a safe and secure home for their children regardless of what's happening," a source close to Stefani told PEOPLE. "When you're separated and have kids, you're much more emotionally invested."
These fans are what Stefani and Rossdale are trying to protect their children from.
