For those of us who were heartbroken over the announcement of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's divorce, we could all use a distraction from the sadness, and I'm choosing fashion as mine. Gwen has long been a style star, so let's check out her best and craziest red carpet looks over the years.

Wearing LAMB at the 2014 MTV VMA's. Way to rep your brand, Gwen!
At the 2013 Inaugural Gala of the WALLIS ANNENBERG CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS- Part II, Gwen covered her baby bump in fringe, that looked both glamorous and interesting. With her hair both rolled and pinned, this look combines classic gown styles with eccentric details.
At the 2013 Met Gala, Gwen wore Maison Martin Margiela. This is a black and white bow example I love, where she eschews the typical gown silhouette for a twist top that shows skin but isn't overtly sexy, and a full skirt. Her quirky, asymmetrical updo totally wins me over, too.
In the height of her Love, Angel, Music, Baby phase, Gwen wore Vivienne Westwood to the 2004 Billboard Music Awards, looking like a punk baby doll in the best way possible. I have mixed feelings about those Harajuku girls, but this is definitely an iconic look for Gwen.
At the 2005 VMA's, Gwen wore a leopard halter dress from her own LAMB collection, with the perfect amount of bombshell and just enough sophistication. This dress ushered in an era of Gwen's more sophisticated dressing as a mother, but keeping in tone with her funky aesthetic as well.
I have mixed feelings about Gwen's look for the 1998 VMA's, because I love her crazier earlier style, but so many of her choices for the red carpet had just one (or five) thing too many. The blue hair and platform flip-flops are rocking, but the hoop-skirt pants combo, plus the questionable bindi made it so over the top. We still love her.
Here's one of Gwen's quirkier looks that I love. For the 2001 My VH1 Music Awards, Gwen donned houndstooth shorts and a red cut-out one-piece to match her red heels. This is a look that clashes in all the right places, and few could pull it off but Gwen.
