Spicy-Sweet Jalapeño Paloma – Perfect for Summer Days!
Sweet grapefruit, refreshingly tart lime, a hint of spicy jalapeño, tequila, and a splash of soda.
Who knew these flavors would mingle together so perfectly? I, for one, did not expect how delicious this cocktail would be when I mixed it up with some friends this weekend. I mean, I suspected it'd be good, but this good?
I generally enjoy cocktails, but only rarely do I find once I'm truly crazy about. And let's just put it this way: I was literally craving one for the rest of the weekend. If that doesn't inspire you to give this spicy, citrusy concoction a try, then I don't know what will.
In a cocktail shaker, muddle two jalapeño slices with a splash of the tequila. Add the remaining tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and ice; shake until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a glass, and top with a splash of soda water. Adjust proportions to taste. Garnish with a wedge of lime or grapefruit.
– If you're not a huge fan of spice, add 1 or 2 jalapeño slices at the end – do not muddle.
– You can rim the glass with salt, or even a mix of salt and ancho chile powder if you wish.
– If you like a sweeter cocktail, try sweetening with agave nectar, or use sweetened grapefruit juice.
