Google Is ACQUIRED!
Remember that scene in 'Jurassic World' when BD Wong's scientist character explains that instead of creating another badass T-Rex, the lab decided to make a completely new, bigger, more aggressive dinosaur?

Larry Page, the former (as of today) CEO of Google, just made his own Indominus Rex, and its name is Alphabet.

Alphabet (seen above, not usually with dinosaur) is the newest web project of Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both of whom are officially moving from being Google's CEOs to being Alphabet's CEO and president, respectively. "Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies," Page explained in the official announcement made earlier today. "The largest of which, of course, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main Internet products contained in Alphabet instead." That's right. Alphabet ATE GOOGLE, turning it into a subsidiary of the new conglomerate moving forth, along with various other acquired project companies as it develops.
However, I've got to say that some of the technology Alphabet would like to build upon sounds incredibly interesting, including:
- Life Sciences, who is currently developing glucose-sensing contact lenses - Calico Labs, which focuses on understanding and improving lifespans - X Lab, a new research group founded by Alphabet which will "incubate new efforts like Wing, our drone delivery effort"
I'm not sure what these drones are intended to deliver, but I hope one of which is Chinese food. I mean, for starters.
Page also announced that Sundar Pichai, who already mans a majority of Google's most important products, will be stepping in as the new CEO of Google. Which is cool, but seems like kind of a lame hand-me-down when you're someone like Larry Page and about to go lead a crazy new and exciting mega-company. All-in-all, very big changes are happening at an extremely rapid pace for Google. (Or should we say 'Alphabet' now?)

Sounds like a world domination plan...Love the Jurassic World reference. haha but I think Alphabet is more like the theme park and Google being the T-Rex.
