Homemade Jolly Rancher Vodka

With so many vodka flavors out there, you may be thinking, Why should I make my own? Because this is about Jolly Ranchers! As many of you know, I don't do a lot of drinking, maybe a few fruity drinks a year, but another Vingler wanted to do a collaboration between DIY and alcoholic beverages. You can visit @MarshallEdgar's drinks collection here.

Supplies Needed:

vodka (unflavored)
airtight containers (Ikea has bottles like these)
Jolly Ranchers (about 10-12 pieces per small bottle)
funnel
Divide the Jolly Ranchers up by color, adding 10-12 pieces per bottle. This will help both the color and the flavor stay true to the candy. You can add more candy than this if you want something super sweet and intense.
Using a funnel, pour the unflavored vodka into the bottles.
After about one hour in the vodka, the Jolly Ranchers began to break down. This is the time you want to shake the bottle up. Let it sit over night.
By the next morning, give the vodka a good and vigorous shake. The candy should be completely dissolved and ready for cocktails!
If you enjoyed this diy, (and I hope you did), then I will be doing a few more in collaboration with @MarshallEdgar. You can see my other diy projects here.

LOL That's a great memory @Danse. Let me know how it turns out for you!
This is so hilarious to me because I remember back in my early twenties when we used to cram as many ranchers into our drinks as we could. This just brings back memories. I'm totally making this. >__< <3
I haven't actually tried it myself. I don't drink often. I created a DIY as par of a collaboration with another vingler. Sorry, @rodiziketan
I bet shots would be good. Chase by sucking on a jolly rancher! :D But I also really like @marshalledgar's idea of making a vodka tom collins, because the lemon will cut the sweetness a little :)

Fall Wedding Must: Caramel Apple Martinis
If you're getting married this Fall and Caramel Apple Martinis are NOT ON YOUR cocktail menu, PLEASE, WHY?! Okay, let's start over. If you're wedding is this Fall, then THIS IS YOUR MUST-HAVE cocktail! The Caramel Apple Martini (or carameltini, as it's sometimes called) is a martini with October leaves, Indian Summer bliss and apple orchard nostalgia. Sounds amazing, right? Let's not delay the imbibery... Caramel Apple Martini Ingredients 2 ounces Apple Cider 2 ounces Caramel Vodka 1 ounce Butterscotch Schnapps Sliced fresh apple, caramel, and / or cinnamon sugar for garnish. Rim your martini glass with caramel or cinnamon sugar. To get the cinnamon sugar to stick to the glass, dip the rim in a little apple cider, then the cinnamon sugar. Combine the apple cider, caramel vodka, and butterscotch schnapps in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously. Pour mixture into the rimmed martini glass and garnish with a slice of fresh apple. Simple. Delicious. Impossible not to be a favorite! It’s a little on the sweet side, so it would pair very nicely with a salty appetizer. It could also finish up a meal as a substitute for a sweet dessert. And you all remember my advice about cocktail hour, right? Don't make your guests wait around forever between the recessional and for cocktail hour to begin. Drinks and bubbly should be being poured as guests are entering. They should be reaching for a coupe or a high ball. You choose. For more cocktail fabulousness, click here.
Orange Creamsicle Cocktail
I was in the mood all day today for some orange flavored jello. But I don't know how to make it, even with a box and some "add this to this and mix" instructions. I just couldn't be bothered with that. Then I thought of Orange Julius, which would be great with vodka. Yet the more I thought about it, I thought, WHY NOT MAKE SOMETHING NEW FOR A CHANGE?!?!?!?! @rodiziketan is a Vingler that is pretty much an expert in all things mixology. He practically makes a new drink every day. His liquor cabinet is loaded with at least 20 bottles of liquor. He also preaches, "USE FRESH SQUEEZED JUICES" whenever possible. I bring him up because he inspired me to think outside my LA BOX and try something new. You can visit his Cocktails Collection that he created by clicking here. If you like what you see, be sure to follow him, clip and like. He's a cool guy too, so be sure to say hello. Orange Creamsicle Ingredients 3 oz Orange Soda 1 oz Whipped Cream Flavored Vodka 1 TBSP Sweetened Condensed Milk Whipped Cream Sprinkles Directions Add ice to a low-ball style cocktail glass. Add orange soda pop, whipped cream flavored vodka, and sweetened condensed milk Stir gently. Do not over-stir or you will lose the carbonated bubbles Top with whipped cream. Garnish with sprinkles. This is what I wanted. Still has the vodka and orange, but without the ice cream and orange juice. It's got carbonated bubbles, sprinkles and that luxe creamy texture of the condensed milk. And SWEET!
What A Coke Does To Your Body In 1 Hour
I'll be the first to admit that I love Coca Cola. But it's absolutely horrible for us. A very detailed infographic supplied by TheRenegadePharmacist.com has officially proven again how bad Coke is for your body (WE KNOW). The American CDC has said that 25% of Americans drink soda on a regular basis which is a hefty reason why obesity has run rampant. Sugar is the main culprit since an average can of soda can contain 3 tablespoons of sugar and 4 tablespoons if in a 12-ounce-bottle. Coke is one of the most popular soft drinks in the United States with a massive marketing empire so there will never be a day where we won't see it somewhere. But there comes a time where you need to take a moment and see what you're putting into your body. Let's take a look : All it takes is ONE Coke : First 10 Minutes : 10 teaspoon of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. In 20 Minutes : Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your live responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There's plenty of that at this particular moment.) In 40 Minutes : Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. In 45 Minutes : Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. In 60 Minutes : The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium, and zinc in your lower intestine providing a further boost in metabolism. This is a compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. After 60 Minutes : The caffeine's diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you'll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium, and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. As the rave inside of you died down you'll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You've also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in theCoke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like having the ability to hydrate your system of build strong bones and teeth. Why you should care? - Coke weakens bones and teeth. - Increases your chance for getting diabetes. - It slows your metabolism, especially long term. - Aspartame in the soda leads to disease and organ irritation. - Coke has negative affects on fertility. - It leads to weight gain. - Can worsen asthma or increase risk for heart disease. - Cancer, Osteoporosis, and Kidney issues are common in people who drink soda. - It's expensive to continually buy it. - Diet sodas are a scam and false advertising. All soda is bad for you. - No nutritional value. - Raised cholesterol and specifically increased belly fat. Do I need to say more? Coke or soda for that matter is never a good idea. (But don't worry, I still love it.)
Open Letter: Two Monday Cocktails
Dear Vinglers, Recently, (as in 90 seconds ago), I shared a card about how I learned the secret of turning Tuesday into Friday, which you can read here. However, that is not why I am writing you this card. You see, now that we discovered how to get rid of Wednesday and Thursday through Coconut Margaritas, I am MOSTLY interested in ditching Mondays altogether. I know there's a way of doing it. But how? Does anyone know? I've looked into chakras, harmonics, frequencies and even holographics...but none of that seems to work. If Ed Leedskalnin can levitate monolithic rocks to create and build Coral Castle, can't we unlock the mystery that traps us into work weeks that consistently begin with Mondays?! I apologize if I seem a bit worked up; I know the truth is out there. Perhaps if we are diligent, and listen to Coast To Coast AM, then we will be that much closer to solving this elusive conundrum. Until then, attached is the fabulous Pomelo Flush for your mouth and the Citron Soak for your sore and aching feet, that every Monday brings. Let's look both ways, hold hands, and cross the road together! Always, @MarshallEdgar Foot Cocktail 1 cup of Epsom Salt 1 cup of Sea Salt 2 cups of Baking Soda 4 cups of hot water 6-8 drops of Lavender essential oil --------------------------- 1 grapefruit sliced 1 orange sliced 2 limes sliced 2 fresh rosemary sprigs In a large, clean container, mix salts, soda, oil and water. Close with lid or cap and shake vigorously. In a pan of HOT WATER (as hot as you can stand), add sliced fruits and rosemary. Stir in 1/2 - 3/4 cup of water salt from container into pan. Save the rest for another time. Soak feet like this for 30 minutes. Try this 3 times a week for two weeks, dropping to once a week. @allischaaff @danidee @rodiziketan @buddyesd @nicolejb @alywoah @TerrecaRiley @yernaya @jeff4122 @NixonWoman @FrancheskaOrtiz @clochette30 @beywatch @britneyw @VeronicaCuevas @ElizabethSerna @AlaishaRenise @littlelegs @CorlethaTurner @alwaysdream @kclvrhse @LizArnone @MrsBaxter @Heartofgold @MargaretPearson
Korean Girls Try Mexican Soda For The First Time!
Just when that whole YouTube trend of sampling foods from different cultures was losing its sparkle to me, Digitalsoju TV had to go ahead and introduce Korean girls to Jarritos. I've been wanting to write a card about Jarritos for a while now, as it's one of those Mexican sodas that are an essential part of the culture of Mexican cuisine. Sure, you can talk about Baja California seafood or the delicious carnes of central Mexico's ranching region, but what would that deliciousness be without a cold, fizzy Jarritos on the side? If you don't know Jarritos, it's an incredibly popular Mexican soda brand that's made with cane sugar and comes in a variety of flavors, including strawberry, guava, pineapple, and tamarind. In this video, the girls end up sampling the pineapple, grapefruit, mango, and guava flavors, but how does Jarritos translate in the Land of the Morning Calm? Let's look! Like any good soda, the first thing they notice is it's full of sugar. And then they all realize they're obsessed with the guava one. My favorite was the homegirl going too hard on the grapefruit. This one had her ranking all figured out. Does it match yours? Overall, these girls all agreed that Jarritos was delicious - and would be even more delicious mixed with a little vodka! You can check out their FULL commentary - plus their opinion on Squirt! - in the embedded video above. And then let me know: What's YOUR favorite Mexican soda flavor? And if you haven't tried Jarritos before, which flavor would YOU want to try? @bangtanboysfan1 @AnnahiZaragoza @fabiola12fb @abiersack666 @YeseniaLira @DianaKpop58 @reyestiny93 @AdaliaMartinez @exokpop12385 @michellefuentes @perlaaraujo73 @jessicacruz1480 @DulceOjeda @giselacampos14 @wuyifanslover @nevershoutnancy @mirandazamira @jooheony @YeseniaF @SunnyV @IlseJimenez @KpopGaby @NelyJoss @aabxo @aliciasalinas @ThyaremyCreator @Cuetlatchli @Sunflower18 @purplem00n23 @jannatd93 @Luci546 @ALEXCAMACHO @TehDL @buddyesd @JocelynPacheco @SarahRegulski @MyAffairWith @FelipeZambrano @LindaGuandique @KassyGuz96 @XDLP @alywoah @FelipeZambrano
