Who needs all those extra calories from your typical buttercream iced flowers?! I have a wedding dress to fit into, so I know that I don't need them. The problem, however, is that you have to have flowers on a cake. I fell in love with this paper flower tutorial that I think you are going to love too!

Supplies Needed:

Crepe paper (party supply store)
Green floral wire (16 gauge)
Green floral tape
Hot glue gun
Nose pliers
Peach acrylic paint

Sweet Pea:

1. Cut five Centers from your Marion Berry crepe paper. Twist tightly to create five small crepe paper ropes.
2. Cut eight Petals from your Sweet Pea crepe paper.
3. Place hot glue on the bottom of on of your Petals. Set the tip of your stem wire in the glue, placing the five twisted Center ropes.
4. Place another Petal over the Center ropes, sandwiching the pieces together.
5. Continue hot gluing the remaining petals around the flower. Paint the edge of your center ropes with your peach paint for added detail.

Marion Berry:

1. Cut four Petals from your Marion Berry crepe paper.
2. Stretch and smooth the paper grain from the center to the edge, to form a petal shape.
3. Place hot glue on the bottom of one of your Petals. Set the tip of your stem wire in the glue, placing another Petal on top (paint side facing down) sandwiching the wire between the two Petals.
4. Repeat with the two remaining petals on the opposite sides.
5. Gently bend your petals back, forming the flower. Cut one Center from your Sweet Pea crepe paper. Roll and press your Center into a small ball. Using hot glue, glue at the center of your petals.

Coral:

1. Cut one Stamen from your Marion Berry crepe paper. Fringe the top edge of your Stamen strip using your scissors. Roll into itself and wrap the Stamen bunch with your 16 G wire.
2. Open and fold back your Stamen bunch, creating a center. Using your peach paint, paint the center of your Stamen.
3. Cut one Center from your Coral crepe paper. Roll and press your Center into a small ball. Using hot glue, glue at the center of your stamen.
4. Cut five Petals from your Coral crepe paper, stretch and smooth the paper grain from the center to the edge, to form a petal shape.
5. Glue the five petals around stamen using hot glue.

Bubble Gum:

1. Cut four Petals from your Bubble Gum crepe paper. Stretch and smooth the paper grain from the center to the edge, to form a petal shape.
2. Using your peach paint, paint the center of your Petals.
3. Place hot glue on the bottom of on of your Petals. Set the tip of your stem wire in the glue, placing another Petal on top (paint side facing down) sandwiching the wire between the two Petals.
4. Repeat with the two remaining petals on the opposite side.
5. Gently bend your petals back, forming the flower. Cut one Center from your Marion Berry crepe paper. Roll and press your Center into a small ball. Using hot glue, glue at the center of your petals.
TIP: To prevent oils from destroying your flowers and to keep the paper from bleeding color to the next, you can easily spray them with food-shellac. It's a spray that you can find at a baking craft store or online.
